Craig Tevendale is Head of Herbert Smith Freehills' International Arbitration group in London. He has broad experience of commercial arbitration, court and expert determination proceedings and, in particular, is recognised as a leading practitioner in the energy and projects field.
Craig has many years of contentious experience in international disputes work across a range of jurisdictions. North Africa and the Middle East are areas of particular specialism: Craig has a First Class Honours degree in Arabic, and is often instructed on matters relating to the region, including cases governed by the laws of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, the UAE, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Algeria and Morocco. He is also frequently nominated as arbitrator by parties and institutions in the MENA region.
Craig is a member of The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration's advisory committee. He frequently publishes on arbitration and energy law, and lectures at the University of London on upstream oil and gas disputes
